MAJOR STRENGTHS OF THE DEPARTMENT

  • Rich Library in the Department having more than 3000 books with 31 set of  Encyclopedia for both teachers and students.
  • Department Possesses Smart Class Room, ICT.
  • Reputed Journals like ‘Samajik Vimarsh’, ‘The Society’ and ‘Samajik Nirvachan’ are being published by the Department Annually and Half Yearly. These Journals are also included in the List of University Grants Commission Journals. 
  • For brighter career building of the students , various lectures on relevant and current issues are being organized by the department.
  • Better opportunities for personality development of the students due to healthy interaction between teachers and students .

MAJOR WEAKNESSES OF THE DEPARTMENT

  • Lack of Common Room for Male Students due to which their Studies and Academic Discussions suffer .
  • Urgent need of separate Chambers for Teachers without which Research Work and Studies Suffer.
  • Scarcity of Skilled Non Teaching Staff . It is a big Department with Various Specialization but only one Clerk is provided.
  • Unavailability of  Librarian .More space is needed for better Library .
  • Deficiency of Electronic Goods like Photocopier and Fax Machine etc.

MAJOR OPPORTUNITIES OF THE DEPARTMENT

  • The scope of sociology is very wide both National and International level therefore- 
  • Good teaching in the department and better understanding of the students lead to better employment opportunities for the students.
  • Fair opportunities for teachers to conduct high level research work.
  • Healthy opportunities for teachers to carryout various projects on different issues which would be beneficial for policy makers of the country.
  • The department is capable to produce efficient researchers in social science .
  • Potentiality to organize national and international seminars, workshops and conferences .

MAJOR CHALLENGES OF THE DEPARTMENT

  • Due to lack of funds we are facing difficulties to run the new courses .
  • To develop the infrastructural facilities for students is a great challenge .
  • For extensive researches enough fund is required but the funding agencies like UGC,ICSSR and the Government of Uttar Pradesh never respond accordingly . 
  • A good coordination with affiliated colleges is not a easy task because of their heavy strength.
  • There is a demand of market oriented ‘Course Structure’, we are trying our level best to make different courses of sociology in the light of the same .
