About the Department

The department of Journalism and Mass Communication was established in 1945 by Pt. Kamalapati Tripathi (Ex. ChiefMinister,U.P., Ex Minister Jahajrani, Govt. of India, Ex. Railway Minister, Working president of All India Congress Committee and a great journalist). But due to some reason the department become closed. After 38 years, department of Journalism restarted on Gandhi Jayanti- 2nd October 1983. At present time the department of Journalism and Mass Communication is running various under graduate, post graduate and research level regular programmes.

 Presently, the department has five teachers- Dr. Anil Kumar Upadhyay, Dr. Vinod Kumar Singh, Dr. Arun Kumar Sharma, Dr.Prabha Shanker Mishra and Dr. Manohar Lal. In addition, the department also manages its workload with the help of Guest Teachers.

 The head of the department Dr. Anil Kumar Upadhyay is a dynamic person and distinguished scholar with a wide range of publications of high standard to his credit. Dr. Upadhyay is the first D.Litt. in the subject Journalism and Mass Communication  inIndia .

 Of the other teachers Dr. Vinod Kumar Singh, Dr. Arun Kumar Sharma, Dr. Prabha Shanker Mishra and Dr. Manohar Lal is a teacher of repute.

Future Mission of the Department:
The field of Journalism and Mass Communication increasing rapidly in the era of globalization. One side Journalism is being established as a profession, where as the demand of expert and professionals are increasing in the various field of Media as Reporting, Editing, advertisement, Public relation, Radio, Television, News Paper, New media etc. Therefore, fulfilling the demand of the Media persons and professionals, department of Journalism and Mass Communication has following mission for future-
1. To enrich and conduct the teaching programmes.
2. To promote quality research.
3. To held Seminar/Workshops regularly.
4. To provide platform to students for job in Print media, electronic media, Public Relations sector and Advertisement areas.
5. To enrich the department library further.
